General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)
Introduction to Program
Basic diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery is geared to the health needs of the individual’s family, community and country at large.
This programmed prepares the nurses with a sound educational programmed in nursing, ability to co-operate a co-ordinate with members of the health team, help in their personal and professional development, serve as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.
Highlights
The program prepares nurses and midwives for generalist nursing including midwifery practice. Knowledge acquisition related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management and care of the dying is core to nursing practice.
Mastery of competencies is the main focus. Students are provided with opportunities to learn a whole range of skills in addition to acquiring knowledge related to nursing practice (nursing and midwifery). This is achieved through learning in skill lab/simulated lab and clinical environment.
Simulation will be integrated throughout the curriculum wherever feasible to enable them to develop competencies before entry into real field of practice.
Eligibility for Admission
1. 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination.
2. Registered Nurse with pass mark
3. 5% of the total marks is relaxed for SC/ST candidates
4. Students shall be medically fit.
